RTE viewers were shocked after watching Upfront with Katie Hannon on RTE One on Monday night after the panel discussed if kids should be about porn in schools.
The programme focused on the changes being made to the to sex education for Junior Cert students, and particularly the question on whether or not Irish teenagers be educated about pornography.
The panel was made up of Dr Kate Dawson, a lecturer at University of Greenwich whose area of research is Porn Studies, as well as Fine Gael TD Josepha Madigan, Peadar Tóibín TD and leader of Aontú, and Alison O'Connor a columnist with the Irish Examiner.

Ms Madigan conformed that the new RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education) curriculum had gone for final approval to the Minister and that pornography will be referred to in the new programme.
However, viewers were mostly shocked by the contribution of a teacher in the audience who said his students told him they had first encountered porn when they were eight years old.
One person wrote on Twitter: "Excellent contribution and clarity from [Eoghan], re his students & impact on youth. #RTEUpfront
Another added: "Jeez this is utterly depressing to hear the teens experience. An overhaul was definitely needed to the Sex Ed Secondary school subject, Parents also have a huge role to play & should be teaching their sons to respect girls & women. #RTEUpfront"
A third added: "#rteupfront that’s dismal hearing 16 y o sexual expectations from this teacher. What Hope have we of ending Domestic violence."
