RTE Tommy Tiernan Show viewers react in horror as host takes 'psychopath quiz'

RTE Tommy Tiernan Show viewers were all saying the thing after Saturday night's show.

This week Tommy was joined by psychologist and writer Dr Kevin Dutton.

Dr Dutton told Tommy about his experience of meeting two psychopaths who had committed terrible crimes as he answered Tommy's chilling question of whether or not he believed in evil, having studied the human brain for most of his life.

Responding to the question, Dr Dutton said: "Do you know, as a scientist, Tommy, evil is a word which is very loaded for me because I look at the brain and how the brain works and I can see various brian patterns and underlying behaviours.

"I have, and it's strange there are a number of people who I've met, who have been very bad psychopaths, who I've sat in the presence of, I can't tell you who they are, who I have, there's only two who I would use the word evil to describe them, for want of any better word… and they were pure psychopaths, pure bad psychopaths.

"They both committed terrible crimes, and when I've gone into the room in their presence, you feel a powerful chill in you.

"I'm at a loss to explain what that is.

"So evil is a word which I use lightly, but I have used it on a couple of occasions to describe people who are, they just go beyond the patterns and just make me feel a different way."

At the beginning of the interview, Tommy himself was put under the spotlight as Dr Dutton evaluated him to see if he was or wasn't a psychopath.

After answering a series of questions, Dr Dutton determined that Tommy was a below-average psychopath.

However, viewers of the show were slightly caught off guard by the time it took Tommy to answer some of the questions.

In typical Tommy style, he allowed for long pauses as he carefully thought out his answers.

Viewers took to Twitter to comment on Tommy's answers.

One person wrote: "Why did Tommy have to think about how he'd feel about an animal in distress???"

A second wrote: "Tommy's pauses here…"

While a third said: "Tommy looks bewildered, nervous and slightly put out!"
