Radio host Tara Kumar announced she is leaving RTE’s 2FM to pursue a career in London.
The well known DJ, who has been with the station for six years, will present her final show next week.
Announcing her departure, Tara said: “I have some news…"
“After 6 years in the building and 3 years on the new music show I’ve decided I am leaving RTE2fm…
“This show has been my constant for the last few years and I am so grateful for all of the incredible artists I’ve had the honour of playing, interviewing and discovering.
“Ireland is so full of so much talent and I’m so proud of how thriving the music industry is today.
“Music has always and will continue to forever be my first love.”
Tara is well known for presenting her nightly music show on 2FM where she is known to help promote exciting new Irish artists each week, Sunday to Thursday from 7pm.
“Thank you to every single person who has trusted me for the last 3 years in this special place,” she added.
Tara said her departure from the station comes as she plans to move across the water to pursue her career in London.
“So now, it’s time for a new adventure in London (my nearest refuse to do a leaving party because they know I’ll be home every 5 mins)…
“Slán go fóill a chairde. TK x”
Head of RTÉ 2FM, Dan Healy said "We are very sad Tara is leaving 2FM and yet very excited for her as she makes her way in London.
“Tara’s show on 2FM was a must-listen for anyone curious about new and good music. Tara is a taste-maker and will fly wherever she is."
Tara will present her final show on Wednesday, September 28.
2FM will be announcing Tara's replacement in the coming weeks.
