RTE's Ryan Tubridy shares thoughts on Late Late audience return after number of angry calls and complaint

Ryan Tubridy has said he loved having an audience back on the Late Late Show despite a number of unhappy callers to RTE.

RTE revealed to the Irish Mirror on Monday that 512,000 watched the Late Late Show on RTE One and RTE One+1 – but the national broadcaster received one official complaint about the show.

A further 11 callers rang RTE to offer “negative feedback” from Friday’s show.

A spokesperson for RTE said: "The Late Late Show was the most-watched programme of the weekend on Irish television where an average of 512,000 watched across RTÉ One and RTÉ One+1, as the longest-running live chat show in the world welcomed its largest live audience in almost two years.

“RTÉ received one official complaint, 11 members of the public contacted RTÉ, via email and phone message, to give negative feedback on Friday night's show.”

But Tubs told listeners on his RTE Radio Show that he loved Friday's episode.

The RTE host said: "By the way, thank you for showing up Friday, we had one of our biggest box office nights of the year this year.

"People were very excited, as much as I was, to see humans in the audience and there was a buzz there so thanks for that. And we'll see ye again on Friday."

The next Late Late episode will be a Eurovision special with Tubridy promising it will be "enormous".
