Ryan Tubridy paid tribute to a young GAA star by dedicating a song to her family on his RTE Radio 1 show.
Kate Moran, 20, suffered a fatal head injury during a collision while playing camogie on Easter Monday.
The match between Athenry, who Kate was playing for, and Ardrahan was abandoned before Kate was taken to University Hospital Galway by ambulance.
She was in intensive care overnight but passed away on Tuesday.
Tubridy played a beautiful version of The Parting Glass, sung by The Voice Squad, towards the end of his show on Wednesday before saying: "I'm going to play that for the family of Kate Moran this morning.
"She is the young girl who died playing camogie. She's from Athenry and her picture is in all the papers this morning and it's deeply sad and deeply tragic and cruel.
"I'm thinking of her family this morning because that is not fair and not right so sending all the condolences and love to the Moran family this Wednesday morning."
Kate, who was from Monivea, was an integral part of the Galway U16 teams who won back-to-back All-Ireland titles against Kilkenny in 2016 and Wexford in 2017.
Kate was also on the minor team who lost to Cork in the 2018 final and as a sign of respect to Kate and her family, Galway Camogie has postponed all games this week.
Councillor Albert Dolan, who attended national and secondary school with Kate, said the tragedy has come as a “massive shock to the community”.
He told the Irish Mirror: “I don’t think there are any words to express just how terrible this must be for Kate’s family.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
Councillor Shelly Quinn added the whole of Athenry is “deeply saddened by the news”.
She said: “It has taken all of us by shock. The GAA game ended in catastrophic results for Kate and it was a tragic accident.
“Galway Camogie is one of the biggest GAA clubs in the country and there will be a massive community response to this devastating tragedy.
“Kate was taken far too soon and our thoughts and sincerest condolences go out to the Moran family.”
