RTE star Ryan Tubridy has revealed he was mobbed by a “sea of selfies” and “pink Stetsons” when he attended Westlife at the Aviva Stadium with his mother and sisters.
The Late Late Show host attended the second night of Westlife’s concert on Saturday night in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
Speaking on his RTE Radio 1 show on Monday morning, he said: “As for the crowd, wow. The walk from Shelbourne Road to the door of the Stadium was eventful, I will put it that way.
"I haven't been in the mix of such a crowd for a long time. It was a sea of selfies and pink Stetsons. I won't get into the details, it is a war story for off air. When I say 'war story', it was a war story of love. There was no agro, it was very pleasant.
“I didn’t go for the pink Stetson in the end, but I was that close.”

Ryan was sitting with Shane Filan's family as they watched the Irish band take to the stage. He also met Nicky Byrne’s family and wife Georgine, who he said he had never met before.
Ryan said: "I went to see Westlife with my mother and sisters on Saturday night and we had the most fun time.
"I got to meet a lot of the Sligo contingent, particularly Shane's [Filan] family, who were sitting around me.
"[They are] the nicest people you could possibly meet and [it was] all about family and looking after each other. They knew every word of every song and they didn't take their eyes off the stage for the whole concert."
He praised Westlife for their performance, saying: "Well done to the four guys. Watching them performing in the Aviva Stadium was quite something because they have achieved an awful lot.
"There were tens and tens and tens of thousands of people who were delighted to be there. They all wanted to mention their wives, husbands and children. It was a good vibe.
"It was summer and there was no sense of the pandemic. I was delighted to be there, and we enjoyed ourselves to no end.”
But he made a quip remark about the lack of taxis in Dublin – saying he “eventually” managed to flag one down.
“I dropped my mother off along the way. It was very wholesome, a lovely night out."
