RTE viewers were left impressed by the newest addition to its Sunday night programming.
Quiz enthusiasts were treated to the first episode of 'Ireland's Smartest', hosted by Claire Byrne. Viewers saw three separate contestants from across Ireland battle it out to be crowned as the night's brainiest contestant.
Claire previously teased in the RTE Guide that the programme would be "lots of fun" and a treat to watch. Viewers echoed these sentiments and said it made a welcome change to RTE's programming schedule.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Thank Christ. A proper quiz show on RTE for the first time since Blackboard Jungle. Very enjoyable. Well done."
A further nine episodes are set to air on RTE One over the next few months. Contestants on tonight's episode put their thinking caps on over the course of several rounds, with one person being eliminated ahead of the show's final quickfire round.
Another viewer also approved of the show's style, writing: "Good to see a focus on questions instead of a contrived format."
The programme has brought Claire back onto people's TV screens after a brief absence. The broadcaster is one of the favourites to take over from Ryan Tubridy as Late Late Show host when he steps down in May, but there has been no official confirmation of the takeover.
'Ireland's Smartest' airs Sunday nights at 7.30pm on RTE One and is also available via the RTE Player.
