RTE's Marty Morrissey has apologised for using a car through an arrangement with Renault for several years.
The sports presenter confirmed he was asked to MC several events at Renault garages nationwide in 2017. He did not request a fee for his appearances.
Marty confirmed that Renault offered him the use of a car instead, which he accepted. The arrangement continued on for six years between Marty and the car brand.
The presenter stated: "Since the recent controversy within RTE arose, I have reflected on this matter. I concluded that it had been an error of judgement on my part to accept the use of the car."

He confirmed that the car was returned on Friday June 23. Marty also insisted he was not a brand ambassador for Renault in his brief statement.
The revelation follows yesterday's admission at the Oireachtas Media Committee that an RTE staff member had returned a car after using it for the past five years. The arrangement was not approved by officials.
