Dermot Bannon’s Room to Improve has rocked the RTE ratings war – overtaking top stars Ryan Tubridy and Tommy Tiernan on its opening weekend.
Due to Covid delays, the fan favourite home makeover show was off our screens for two years.
It made its highly anticipated return on Sunday night and RTE have revealed more than half a million viewers tuned in.
Figures provided by RTE, on request of the Irish Mirror, revealed an average of 536,000 fans watched the show’s long-awaited comeback, including those who caught up later on +1.
It has knocked chat show kings Tiernan and Tubridy off the top spot, with an average of 415,000 tuning in to Tommy’s Saturday night episode, and 437,000 watching Friday’s Late Late Show on average, both including catch up on +1.
Dancing With The Stars also trumped the top chat shows on Sunday evening with an average audience of 498,000 viewers, including + 1.
It seems viewers were eager to see the first dance-off of the season, which resulted in the shock elimination of social media influencer Missy Keating.
The 21-year-old daughter of Boyzone singer Ronan failed to impress the judges as she and her dance partner Ervinas Merfeldas became the first couple voted out of the RTE One Show after fighting hard to keep her place against singer Erica Cody.
