RTE Prime Time viewers have been praising retired Air Corps Lt Col Kevin Byrne after his appearance on the show tonight.
Viewers praised his contribution to the segment on Putin’s war strategy since the invasion began two weeks ago and are asking for Col Byrne to become a regular on the show.
One viewer wrote: “Sorry, Col Kevin Byrne should be a regular guest around the war in Ukraine for RTE. Excellent reporting btw on both TV and Online. Stay Safe to all the Staff who are reporting on the war in Europe.”
Another person wrote: “Kevin Byrne should be called upon more often on the topic of the Ukraine invasion. Top class.”
A third said: “Can we have more of more of Kevin Byrne please? He is brilliant on the war and has excellent knowledge of warfare.”
Elsewhere online, viewers were applauding all involved in this evening’s show, with one woman writing: “Coverage of Ukraine invasion was great this evening. Applause to all involved. Can’t be easy reporting on such devastating events.”
It has been 13 days since the Russian military began attacking cities in Ukraine, and the devastation continues.
This evening, Prime Time also featured accounts from a terrified couple hiding in the basement of an old apartment block in the city of Kharkiv and Fran McNulty reported from the former Soviet republic of Estonia where citizens are in fear of their fate.
