RTE Prime Time viewers were left outraged after Tuesday night's show dedicated to Ireland's housing crisis.
Presenter Louise Byrne was joined from France by economist Dara Turnball of Housing Europe and in studio by the former chair of the Housing Agency Conor Skehan.
The guests debated the cause and impacts of the housing crisis on middle-aged and young people struggling to afford to buy a home and the consequences this will have on society in the future.
However, viewers were less than impressed by comments made by Mr Skehan branding him out of touch and 'patronising'.
Taking to Twitter, one person said: "According to Conor Skehan, everyone bought sheds back in the 70's to live in and now they're all buying state of art palaces so Of CoUrSE they're more expensive."
A second wrote: "So Conor Skeehan's answer is for people like Megan to move away from Dublin if they want to buy a house? What about if they want to stay and work there and be close to family? What they need is choice and the housing issue addresed with affordable options to buy in Dublin"
While a third commented: "Listening to Conor Skehan on #rtept would make you want to bang your head against a wall...found him to be very patronising. His Mulhuddart analogy was outrageous!"
Others found the show did well to highlight the current housing issues but said things are hugely different from 40 years ago.
"Forget about 40 years ago, there is no such thing as 'it's not as bad as you think' when a whole generation is living with their parents until the age of 30", one viewer wrote.
Another said: "Just once, I'd like to hear our government say 'Here's what we're doing about social housing' instead of 'Here's what we need to do about social housing'.
"Seems like those who can, do. Those who can't, govern."
Some felt the show focussed too much on areas surrounding Dublin and discarded rural Ireland.
They said: "Has it occurred to Rte that Rural & Urban #Ireland exists to, no focus or mention of housing around the Country. There is a world outside the M50."
RTE will once again raise the issue of the crisis on Thursday night as Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien, and Sinn Fein's Eoin O'Broin will debate.
Viewers were quick to voice their anticipation for Thursday night, with one commenting: "Thursday Darragh O'Brien V Eoin O'Broin Must not miss this".
Another said: "Ohhhh @DarraghOBrienTD is actually going to debate with @EOBroin.
"Get the popcorn in".
