Claire Byrne has defended hosting her TV show from her shed after she tested positive for Covid-19 for a second time.
The RTE star revealed on Monday she had become infected and was isolating from her family.
But disgruntled viewers asked why she didn’t take the week off and get a replacement to host Claire Byrne Line.
A spokesman said: “She had to isolate as per public health rules, but her positive status wasn’t an issue in terms of presenting the programme.
“She has been feeling well since testing positive and was in the fortunate position to work through it.
“As Claire said herself on the programme last night, like lots of other people, she and the team are doing their best to work around the different challenges presented by Covid at the moment.”
Opening the show, she said: “Now hopefully we’re coming out of this wave of Covid, but many businesses and individuals are impacted both by illness and Covid isolation rules.
“As you can see, I’m not in the studio, I’m working remotely because I have tested positive like so many people around the country.”
