RTE Operation Transformation viewers praise show as leader opens up about feeling like 'Mrs Nobody'

RTE Operation Transformation viewers were left feeling inspired after Wednesday nights show as they praised the leaders for their dedication and openness.

People were left stunned as leader Kathleen Hurley Jones admitted that she had felt like 'Mrs Nobody' before deciding to participate in the show.

Opening up during this week's weigh-in, Kathleen said she felt she had lost her identity and just blended into the background while she was out and about.

Kathleen has previously been praised after she opened up about her experience with menopause and her sister's death due to ovarian cancer.

In May 2021, she had the cyst and her ovaries removed, and she went into surgical menopause.

She said: "Some people would let a tooth rot in their head before they spend money on themselves.

"They always feel like they have to have things for somebody else.

"And I think in my life, I really started to really take on that character because I would be the last person I'd buy clothes for, I'd be the last person I'd spend money on. It made me feel very like a Mrs Nobody, because I felt like my own identity, in a sense, I was losing it.

"But it was all to do with really my age and what my body was going through. Nobody else was doing that to me."

As someone passionate about what women go through during the menopause and raising awareness of it, she admitted she was the "poster girl" for the menopause.

She detailed the mental side effects of the menopause and how they can be as debilitating as the physical ones.

Kathleen told Ray D'Arcy on RTE Radio 1: "It's all inside your head, but sometimes if you didn't get invited to something or you can overreact to things, and you can feel bad within yourself.

"And I felt like nobody. And there's a lot of Mrs Nobody's out there, and there shouldn't be."

Fans of the show were quick to praise the 'feel good show'.

One person wrote: "The leaders on #operationtransformation this year are all giving it their best. It's great to see. I wasn't sure about this new programme format either, but it's a lot more informative."

A second said: "To all those who say #OperationTransformation is overrated and rubbish, you clearly do not realise how much this show has helped people improve their mental and physical health, fitness and wellbeing. If you don't wanna watch it, then don't. Simple as."

While a third said: "Absolutely love #operationtransformation Its so uplifting and motivating."
