RTE Operation Transformation viewers in stitches after easy mistake causes funny row

Viewers of Operation Transformation on Wednesday were left in tears of laughter after one of the leaders made a simple mistake that we've all done at one point.

Week two of this season saw the leaders of the controversial show try to instil some good habits into the contestants.

One of these was simple: when you're out shopping, make a list and stick to it.

However, that isn't always the easiest, as contestant John discovered when he was out picking up a few things - and brought back a delicious cake.

His wife Selena was less than pleased, with an argument ensuing much to the amusement of viewers.

One Twitter user put up a poll which asked "Who thinks he actually bought the cake for a joke?"

At time of writing, the majority believed he just wanted some cake.

Another said: "In stitches watching Operation Transformation - Johnny is brilliant" with the #CakeGate, which we want to see trending.

A third person added: "Johns wife has the patience of a saint because id murder him if i was married to him"

While another noted he had fallen victim to "middle aisle syndrome"

The rest of the episode received praise as well, as the leaders and contestants continued their progress.

One user labelled Operation Transformation "the best show on RTE", calling for it to become a daily series.

Another said: "Well done to all the leaders this week, they were brilliant!

RTE promote the show by saying it "provides the motivation we all need to transform our bodies and our minds".

However, in previous years, contestants have been left in tears at the 'weigh-in' segment, with some of the criticism aimed at contestants on their 'weight-loss journey' slammed as over the top and unnecessary.

The Eating Disorder Association of Ireland, Bodywhys, has said it received a "great deal" of concern about the return of the reality show.
