RTE Late Late viewers in tears as show opens with Creeslough tribute a week on from disaster

RTE Late Late Show viewers were moved to tears on Friday night as show host Ryan Tubridy and guest paid tribute to the ten people who died in the Creeslough tragedy last week.

The small Donegal community was rocked by tragedy as an explosion hit a petrol station and claimed the lives of 10 people last Friday.

Ryan Tubridy started the show by paying a heartfelt tribute to them, their families and everyone in the area, as Clannad played In My Life by The Beatles.

Opening the show, Ryan said: "We are sending our condolences to the bereaved," RSVP reports.

"We are sending all our love to your, your neighbours and your friends. We want in our small way to honour the victims, and the survivors and the families and the first responders and the community of Creeslough and beyond."

He then introduced Moya Brennan and Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh from Clannad, who sang a stunning rendition of the classic Beatles song, In My Life.

They then went on to discuss the tragedy and pay their condolences to the community of Creeslough.

Viewers were deeply moved by the song and the words of Ryan, Moya and Mairead.

One viewer took to Twitter to write: "Absolutely beautiful @moyaclannad has such a wonderful voice. Well done to herself and Mairead. Great song choice. #latelate Those poor people of #Creeslough will never be forgotten."

"Lads this is just beautiful. Beautifully arranged and how appropriate," wrote another.
