RTE Late Late Show viewers were left in shock at Philomena Begley's saucy comment to Nathan Carter.

The 80-year-old country music singer appeared on Friday night's Country Music Special along with Daniel O'Donnell, Cliona Hagan and Nathan Carter.

Viewers at home were left in stitches at Philomena's comments on the show as she made cheeky quips about her appearance in Nathan Carter's music video for The Morning After - which sees the pair enjoy a cup of tea in bed together and wink at the camera.

On the show, it was announced that an Post has made stamps with their pictures on it them to commemorate Irish country music.

The five singers were presented with limited edition stamps at the end of the interview but a comment Philomena made to Nathan over his stamp sent Twitter into overdrive.

Nathan, 32, said: ""I told a few friends and they joked about my face being licked for the next while,"

Philomena answered: "I'll tell you what, I don't think it'll be his face" - making the audience burst out laughing.

Ryan said: "Philomena, in the language of the modern day, you went there."

"I meant that it in a nice way," she told him.

People took to Twitter to react to Philomena's appearance with many viewers sharing their thoughts.

"I was not expecting this, now I'm invested," wrote one viewer.

Another wrote: "Oh my god, I thought country music was wholesome #LateLateShow"

"Petition to get Philomena Begley as the next #LateLateShow host," a third said.

"Philomena Begley is a tonic imagine being that type of craic at 80 fair play to her," a fourth viewer added.
