RTE Late Late Show viewers shocked as Michael Buble pranks Irish couple in the audience wearing a disguise

RTE Late Late Show viewers were left in shock on Friday night as singer Michael Buble appeared on the chat show - as a member of the audience.

As host Ryan Tubridy began the show, he introduced an Irish couple in the audience who had gotten engaged on the programme, with the help of Buble, over three years previously.

During his 2018 appearance on the Late Late Show the Canadian singer, 46, had handed David O'Reagan a ring box who then got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend Ashley Kiely.

However, while Tubridy chatted to the happy couple who were completely unawares, some savvy viewers at home noticed a strange man sitting next to them, wearing a PVC jacket, a pair of glasses and a black face mask.

Tubridy asked the pair if they had booked a wedding singer yet, saying: “Why don’t you ask [Michael Buble], he’s sitting beside you.”

At that point, the man beside them jumped up and took off his glasses and the rest of his disguise, revealing himself as Buble.

The prank gave the couple the shock of their lives, leaving them almost speechless, with Ashley simply exclaiming: “Oh my god!”

However, some people watching the show at home claimed to have spotted the crooner hiding in the audience before he was revealed.

One person wrote: “Can't believe they didn't notice PVC Bublé beside them.”

Another joked, using a line from one of Buble’s hits, writing: “Amazing they never copped it that Michael Buble was beside them. I guess they just hadn't met him yet.”

A third added: “@MichaelBuble sitting in the audience was gas to watch as it dawned on us at home. Celebrities must love masks - they can go everywhere unrecognised!”

Singer Buble appeared on the late night chat show to talk about his new album 'Higher' and during his chat with Tubridy he revealed how he worked with The Beatles legend Paul McCartney on the album.

"His manager knew I was making a record. He sent a letter from Paul saying 'I think you could do a great job with this song’.

And I knew this song, it was from a wonderful record called Kisses on the Bottom. And I knew it because a girlfriend of mine, Diana Krall, the greatest jazz pianist in the universe, had played on it.

“So I made a demo and I sent it to him. He called me and he said ‘Hi, it’s Paul Mac’, and I said ‘Hi it’s Mike Bubes’ - that’s what I said.

“And then we made the record in New York and it was a joy.”

Earlier in the day, Tubridy and Buble performed a song together in a pre-recorded clip that was posted to the RTE Late Late Show Twitter page.

They sang Frank Sinatra’s You Make Me Feel so Young, alternating lines between them and singing together at the end.

Meanwhile, viewers watching at home shared their love for the Buble, with many men admitting the charming singer had won them over.

One man said: “If you dont have a man crush on @MichaelBuble are you even alive? #latelate”

Another agreed, writing: “@MichaelBuble always comes across as a genuinely lovely man #latelate”

A third said: “#LateLate I like Michael Buble. He's always up for a bit of craic.”

While another admitted: “Just watched my better half swooning over Michael Bublé on the #latelate”
