RTE Late Late Show viewers were left brimming with emotions after a heartfelt interview with Richard E Grant.
The Swazi-English actor was speaking to Ryan Tubridy about his late wife Joan Washington who tragically died last year after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. The 65-year-old said: "I'd been with my wife for 38 years.
"Our conversation began in January in bed in 1983 and ended in bed with her last breath on September 2, 2021. Our whole lives have been together."

Richard said he kept a very detailed diary after Joan's diagnosis because he didn't want to forget anything that happened in the last months of her life. That, he said, was the "spine" of his memoir, "A Pocket Full of Happiness".
"My wife said this amazing thing to my daughter and I four days before she died. She said, 'I know you're going to be sad but I challenge you to find a pocket full happiness in each day'. That really has become the most brilliant mantra by which to live by."
Fans and well-wishers took to Twitter following the emotional interview. One person said: "Just think Richard E Grant is such a lovely soul."
Another person added: "So great to see @RichardEGrant on #LateLateShow He’s gone through so much so recently but he himself is a tonic."
A third person added: "@RichardEGrant you honour your amazing Joan by finding that ‘pocket full of joy’- the love that flows out in how you remember her is just so magnificent.
"She would be so bloody proud of you. Sending such respect and love." Another Twitter user said: "Something in my eye …what a beautiful man …. @RichardEGrant"
