RTE Late Late Show viewers disappointed after last minute changes see guests dropped

Late Late Show viewers were left disappointed after last-minute changes saw a number of guests dropped from last night's programme.

Fans of the show were excited for this week after a star-studded line-up was confirmed for Friday’s show on RTE. But following the death of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, the schedule was adjusted to allow President of Ireland Michael D Higgins appear to pay respect to the monarch’s 70-year reign.

President Higgins told host Ryan Tubridy about the Queen’s relationship with Ireland, as well as the significance of her state visit here, her legacy, and his return visit to the UK. His addition meant that some home favourites, such as Mrs Brown's Boys star Fiona O'Carroll, TikToker Tadhg Fleming and former Miss Ireland Pamela Uba were dropped from last night's broadcast, reports the Irish Mirror.

The move didn't go down well with some viewers who were looking forward to hearing from some of their favourite Irish stars. Many took to social media to vent their frustration.

One person wrote: "I like Michael D. Higgins but respectfully, we do not want to listen about the relationship the Queen had with Ireland on the Late Late show today."

Another said: “I was tuning in tonight for an upbeat break from the news, but nevermind now.”

Meanwhile, a third person commented: "We are not paying for a licence to listen to that, what do we want to know about her for?"

Despite the changes, a number of planned interviews did still go ahead, including a chat with Academy Award winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts still appearing in a pre-recorded interview where they spoke about their Irish roots.

Also on the show was Amy Huberman, who talked about her new children’s book and her upcoming acting work as well as her husband's hilarious encounter with the Queen.
