RTE Late Late Show pokes fun at itself in response to viral Ireland's Call clip

The Late Late Show has poked fun at itself - after a viral clip of last Friday's episode had some people fuming online.

Over a million people have now watched the opening of the show, which was the first one to feature a big audience in over 18 months.

What took place has been slammed online after the crowd were led in a sing-a-long of Ireland's Call while waving green flags by host Ryan Tubridy.

A total of 12 people out of more than half a million viewers complained to RTE about Friday night’s show.

But it seems bosses are taking it in their stride after a cheeky response to a question on Twitter.

On Tuesday afternoon, SPIN 1038 asked their followers: "What song always makes you want to dance?"

You can probably guess which song the Late Late Show Twitter account responded with.

Doubling down is certainly an interesting tactic!

This Friday's episode of the show will be dedicated to another topic which tends to split people: Eurovision.

Ireland's official entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest will be decided from one of six songs on Friday.

Ireland will perform in the second half of the second semi-final at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Italian organisers revealed we will perform alongside Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Sweden on May 12 – the second half of the second semi-final at the PalaOlimpico Turin in Italy.

The 'Big 5' countries - France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom - do not compete in the Semi-Finals, but it was randomly decided which of the two each country will be able to vote on.

The exact running order will be decided by producers at a later date.
