RTE Late Late Show claps back at viewer complaining over repeat guest appearance with Dermot Bannon joke

The Late Late Show's social media account hit back in brilliant fashion at one viewer who was unhappy to see one guest reappear on the show.

This week's programme was aired on Thursday night rather than its usual Friday slot to mark St Patrick's Day.

Among the guests for the special show were Kellie Harrington, Stephen Kenny, Moya Brennan and Clannad.

However, it was the appearance of comedian Oliver Callan that got under the skin of one viewer.

Taking to Twitter, they wrote: "Oliver Callan must have a state secret held against RTE. Front row and centre, what is going on #LateLate."

The social media account for the chat show on the same platform was having none of this criticism, however, and promptly clapped back at the original poster.

They posted a tongue in cheek reply referencing how celebrity architect Dermot Bannon is a regular guest on the programme.

They simply responded: "Dermot Bannon was busy."

People commended the person behind the Late Late Show's Twitter account for the epic bite back.

One said: "Touché."

A second commented: "Told!!!"

A third wrote: "I admire how the @RTELateLateShow admin has become a lot more competent and witty recently."

While a fourth said: "Lol...has @TG4TV intern given hints to @RTELateLateShow."
