RTE 2FM announces new weekend schedule as top names set to take over from Dave Fanning

RTÉ 2FM has launched its new weekend schedule which includes some big names like popular social media influencer Roz Purcell.

The newly-released weekend schedule sees emerging talent come to the fore of the music and chart hits station, while fan favourites such as Jenny Greene continue to keep listeners enthralled in their regular slots.

As part of the announcement, an RTÉ spokesperson said: "Roz and Emma on 2FM is where you need to be at weekends!"

The schedule kicks off today - Friday, February 24 - with Game On, and The National Chart Show with Bláthnaid Treacy (7pm-9pm) followed by DJ Mo-K (9pm-11pm), and DJ Wax (11pm-1am).

Saturdays and Sundays bring 2FM Breakfast with Bláthnaid Treacy (7am-9am), when Bláthnaid "will serve up a breakfast bowl full of energy, superb listener prizes and great tunes."

Laura Fox will be with listeners on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to midday with three hours of great music, fun chat and celebrity interviews.

Roz and Emma Power will take the 12pm to 3pm slot on Saturdays, when "listeners can guess if their celebrity guest is spoofing or telling the truth, and get a warm hug when Roz and Emma tell you what stories gave them all the feels that week."

Presenter Aifric O’Connell takes over from 3pm-6pm on both Saturdays and Sundays, bringing both fun and throwback tunes.

Popular DJ Jenny Greene continues with The Electric Disco at 6pm until 8pm.

Dave Treacy is bringing a brand new dance show, which promises club dance music and chats with the biggest DJs and producers from all parts of the world.

Dave will be followed by The Spring Sessions from 10pm through to midnight, going into Late Night Sessions from 1am.

Sundays at 6pm will see The Request Show with Conor Behan, while Beta Da Silva takes over from 8-10pm, Sunday through to Thursday, with The New Music Show.

Beta will be followed by chilled sessions with The Greene Room (10pm-12pm) with Jenny Greene.

Right after Jenny at midnight, Cormac Battle - a friendly voice on the daily Jennifer Zamparelli show - rounds the weekend off with a blistering shot of rock, indie and dance.

Dan Healy, Head of RTÉ Digital Audio and RTÉ 2FM, said: "The weekend schedule is a blend of emerging and new voices to Irish Radio. Now that we have bedded in our weekday schedule ,which would appear from the most recent listenership results to be going well, we are focusing on weekends."
