Royals on balcony for Queen's Platinum Jubilee - who's who as Prince Andrew snubbed

A host of working royals appeared with the Queen on the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

One of the main events of the royal celebrations is the famous balcony appearance. The show is a chance for the Queen and other royals to appear in front of her subjects and celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Joining the Queen this year were the familiar faces of Prince William and Prince Charles along with Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall respectively. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in attendance at the event, but weren't on the balcony itself due to a previous ruling by the Queen.

Also up there were some unfamiliar faces, some of the backseat royals who are a little less well known to the public.

The balcony wave is symbolic of some of the major events over the years like royal weddings and other jubilee moments.

So who is on the balcony with the Queen?

A total of 17 people were due to appear on the balcony with the Queen, including young Prince George with mum Kate Middleton and dad Prince William.

The Queen is limiting her appearances over the weekend due to recent health and mobility issues and she will not be present at the Epsom Derby, represented instead by Princess Anne.

Also joining Her Majesty on the balcony was next in line to the throne Prince Charles with wife Camilla, while the Queen's other children, Prince Edward and Princess Anne, also attended.

Anne appeared alongside her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, while Edward was joined by his wife Sophie Wessex.

The Queen's cousins are minor royals who also appeared on the famous balcony, known as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

Edward's two children Lady Louise Windsor and James the Viscount Severn were also present with William and Kate's other children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - who had onlookers in stitches over his hilarious reaction to the RAF flypast.

Where is Prince Andrew now?

Prince Andrew did not appear on the balcony after Trooping the Colour as the celebration only includes working royals.

After a scandal in which he settled a case filed against him by sexual assault accuser Virginia Giuffre, Andrew - who has always denied the claims against him - forked out £12million. He is expected to appear at the St Paul's Cathedral service on June 3.

He was stripped of his military titles and took a step back from royal duties. The balcony appearance did not feature Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle for the same reason - they are no longer working royals.

A Palace spokesman said: "After careful consideration, the Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd June will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen."

The Sussexes were picked up by a Land Rover sent by the Queen after arriving by private jet from their luxury California home on June 1.

Tensions between the pair and other royals like Charles and William are well known and have been particularly bad since the pair's dramatic exit from the UK in early 2020.
