People are being urged to check their purchases and down the sides of their couches for 50p coins that could be worth hundreds.
The Royal Mint has listed the rarest fifty-pence coins, with the most valuable coming in at £650. There are 200million 50p coins circulation the UK alone, with the rarest being the most valuable. The lower the mintage figure, the less coins in circulation, which in turns mean they are worth more.
Many of the coins in question were minter to commemorate a special occasion - whether it be a sporting or historic events - reports The Mirror. The Kew Gardens coin for example was released in 2009 to mark 250 years since the famous garden opened in 1759.
