Royal Mail warns of delivery delays in 56 areas due to Covid absences - full list

Royal Mail is warning of delays and disruption in 56 of its delivery offices across the UK today due to staff absences.

The postal service says both Covid -related self isolation and high levels of workers off sick are affecting its deliveries.

It also blamed “resourcing, or other local factors” for the service upheaval.

As a result, Royal Mail said the disruption may mean it cannot deliver six days a week across certain postcodes - you can see the 56 areas being affected at the bottom of this article.

It comes after the delivery giant warned of postal delays in 22 of its offices in December - while reports from the Daily Mail this week claim some customers are still receiving Christmas cards well into January.

Despite a struggling service, Royal Mail reported pre-tax profits of £315million in the six months to the end of September.

A statement on the Royal Mail site reads: “Deliveries are operating as normal across most of the country today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as COVID-related self isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.”

It added: “We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
