Royal fans miss 'little rascal' Prince Louis at Queen's funeral after his Jubilee antics

Members of the Royal Family came together on Monday alongside some 2,000 guests for Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral at Westminster Abbey, which took place following her death on September 8 at the age of 96.

But noticeably absent from the attendees was four-year-old Prince Louis - even though his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were present with their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Louis was kept out of the formal event after the Prince and Princess of Wales deemed him too young to take part, but his absence was felt by royal fans watching the memorial service, especially after he had stolen the hearts of the nation with his antics at his great-grandmother's Platinum Jubilee back in June.

The youngest child of William and Kate had left people in stitches during the Jubilee celebrations when he was spotted covering his ears and screaming when the flypast became too much for him, and again when he cheekily put his hand over his mum's mouth and blew raspberries at her while watching the pageant on the final day of celebrations.

And while Monday's state funeral was a much more subdued affair, many royal fans admitted they were missing Louis' antics as they had hoped he would be on hand to help lift the mood.

One person asked on Twitter : "Where's Prince Louis? He's always a highlight."

While another added: "I think everybody missed this little fella's presence today."

And a third said: "I'm so disappointed that Prince Louis isn't at the funeral."

Others described the youngster as a "little rascal", while some shared pictures from the Jubilee and said he simply couldn't be brought to the Queen's funeral because there would be a "high chance of chaos".

Someone posted: "People thinking Prince Louis isn't there because he’s too young. The real reason: High chance of chaos."

As someone else stated: "I love that Louis was deemed too much of a behavioural risk to attend the events."

The Prince and Princess of Wales decided to leave Prince Louis at home after thinking "long and hard" about whether to include their children in the Queen's state funeral, according to a source.

Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven, had previously attended the memorial service for their great-grandfather, Prince Philip, last year so were able to attend Monday's event as they have prior experience of formal events. At just four years old, however, Prince Louis was deemed too young.

The insider told the Mail: "As parents they have, of course, thought long and hard about whether their children should accompany them. Of course, little Louis is too young, but they think George and Charlotte are up to it."

And even with Louis at home, his older siblings moved mourners to tears as they were both described as having done their "Gan Gan" - as their great-grandmother was affectionately known to them - proud.

One person on Twitter wrote: "I was doing fine until I saw little Prince George and Princess Charlotte," while another said: "Poor babies, Prince George and Princess Charlotte got me all choked up."

Another commented: "I am properly crying over Prince George and Princess Charlotte walking behind their great grandmother's coffin with their parents, they're still babies."
