Royal fans gutted as Liz Truss gets Coronation invite but lettuce doesn't

For many dignitaries and world leaders, King Charles' Coronation is the invite of the year, and famous faces from every walk of life have been spotted making their way inside Westminster Abbey this morning.

From the world of politics, all eight living prime ministers are in attendance, including Sir John Major, Sir Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.

But viewers have been left devastated after realising one prestigious guest did not make the guest list - the all-important Liz Truss lettuce.

Although the lettuce's human counterpart is present, social media users reckon another invite should have been extended to the veg that famously outlasted the former PM.

Sharing their disappointment online, one Twitter user wrote: "It's a shame the lettuce that outlasted Liz Truss isn't in attendance."

A second else asked: "Oh, I've just noticed, is that Liz Truss? Wouldn't the lettuce have been a better guest?"

Meanwhile, someone commented: "Liz Truss made an appearance, but the REAL question is, where's the lettuce?"

Another eagle-eyed viewer said: "Liz Truss is there as a former PM… please, please let there be a lettuce on the next seat." And one person fumed: "The lettuce should be there, not Liz Truss."

King Charles III's Coronation is a once-in-a-generation event for many, as it's the first event of its kind in 70 years.

Prince Harry arrived to Westminster Abbey without his wife Meghan Markle. He was seen walking behind Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, but in front of Princess Beatrice and her partner Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The Duke of Sussex arrived for the historic event alongside their cousin Zara Tindall, who was accompanied by her husband Mike.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle has stayed behind in California with their children Archie and Lilibet.

Other famous faces who have been invited to the King's Coronation are I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec and singer Lionel Richie, who will also be performing at the Coronation concert at Windsor Castle.
