Royal fan gushes after being caught on camera kissing 'perfect' King Charles III

A Royal fan who kissed King Charles III this afternoon has thanked God for her opportunity to see and kiss the monarch.

Jenny Assiminios, from Cyprus, was in the crows greeting King Charles and Queen Camilla as they arrived at Buckingham Palace this afternoon, when she reached out and kissed him on the cheek.

In an interview with CNN shortly after the moment, she gushed to cameras and said she was 'very happy', calling him 'perfect'.

"I have seen in front of me, I couldn't believe it," she said. "I said to him, 'May I kiss you?' and he said, 'Well, yes'. So I grabbed him. I'm very happy, very very much. Thank you God for letting me see him and kiss him."

Jenny said she never thought she would kiss a King, and told camera crews that she sent him her sympathies for his loss during the exchange.

"He looked sad. I said, 'Sorry about your loss'. It was a feeling. I never think he's in front of me, he was lovely and smiling, he's perfect."

King Charles III was greeted by thousands of royal fans shouting 'We love you Charles' and 'hip hip hooray' at Buckingham Palace this afternoon. He travelled from Balmoral with Queen Camilla for his first royal audience with PM Liz Truss in London.

King Charles was also kissed on the hand by an emotional well-wisher while he spoke to crowds at the Palace.

He is set to make a televised address to the nation this evening, following his first public statement as King yesterday. He said: "The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

"We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

"During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held."
