Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be walking a fine line when it comes to keeping their royal titles. Despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the couple still hold their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, but reports suggest that could change if they make any more controversial remarks about the Royal Family.
According to a royal insider speaking to The Mail, discussions have allegedly taken place about a possible consequence should the couple publicly criticise Harry’s family again. Stripping them of their Sussex titles wouldn’t be a straightforward process—it’s believed it would require an Act of Parliament to make it happen.

As reported by GB News, this latest speculation comes after the couple’s history of bombshell revelations about the monarchy. It all started with their explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they made a series of damaging claims. They then doubled down in their 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and Harry’s memoir Spare, released in 2023, only added fuel to the fire.

She explained: “You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name, our little family name.”
In a separate interview with People magazine, Meghan elaborated on this sentiment, saying: “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H, and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
