A funeral service was held on Tuesday for Thomas Kingston, the husband of Lady Gabriella and a member of the royal family. Kingston, a financier, passed away on Feb. 25 at the age of 45. The private service took place at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace in London, with around 140 close friends and family in attendance, including Prince William.
King Charles was not present at the funeral due to ongoing cancer treatment, while Queen Camilla had prior commitments at Buckingham Palace. Lady Gabriella was joined by her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, as well as Kingston’s family.
The one-hour service was followed by a private cremation, with plans for a larger memorial service in the future. Buckingham Palace announced Kingston's death on Feb. 27, expressing deep sorrow and requesting privacy for the family.
Kingston, a director at Davenport Capital in London, was found deceased in Gloucestershire on Feb. 25. An inquest later determined his death as an apparent suicide, with a traumatic head wound and a gun found near his body.
Kingston married Lady Gabriella in May 2019 in a royal wedding ceremony. Lady Gabriella, 56th in line to the throne, and her brother, Lord Frederik Windsor, were raised away from the royal spotlight and pursued private careers.
The couple's engagement was announced in September 2018, with the wedding taking place at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. They often attended royal events together, including Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral and Royal Ascot.
King Charles and Queen Camilla extended their condolences to Lady Gabriella and the Kingston family, expressing their heartfelt thoughts and prayers. The royal couple joined others in mourning the loss of Thomas Kingston, a beloved member of the family.
