It's been a rough year for powersport and motorcycle manufacturers, with most companies having a down year and even needing to sell off some divisions. Some companies managed to have a stable year, but Royal Enfield was one of the few that managed to crush sales targets in FY25 and plans to continue that upward trend in FY26.
In fact, the manufacturer, which has its headquarters in Chennai, India, has set its highest-ever production goal. Royal Enfield has. set a target to grow its output to 1.1 million units by the end of this financial year. The OEM has also set some ambitious sales targets, including increasing domestic dispatches by 6-7% and increasing exports by 20-25%.
The manufacturer's domestic targets aren't overly ambitious, as they fall exactly in line with the company's internal estimates that the Indian two-wheeler market will grow by 6.4% in FY26. The premium segment, which is categorized by bikes that are 150cc and above, should grow even faster at 9%. Again, this falls nicely in line with Royal Enfield's projections, as the brand has an 85-90% market share of the mid-weight (250-750cc) category.
Royal Enfield has had such a successful FY25 thanks to the injection of plenty of new products, but FY26 won't look the same. The brand will hone its already successful range with around 10-12 product updates and refreshes, as the brand faces ever-increasing competition from Triumph and Harley-Davidson. But there'll be one stand-out addition to Royal-Enfield's range next year.
We're expecting to see the first-ever Royal Enfield electric motorcycle in 2026 after the company filed 45 related patents in 2025 and began working in its EV lab. We'll likely get our first in-person glimpse at the electric motorcycle at EICMA towards the end of this year before Royal Enfield launches it globally.
We're almost always praising Royal Enfield for the quality of the products it puts out for the price, so if its new electric motorcycle falls into this category, it would surely help the company meet its high export target for FY26.
