Royal Caribbean's huge new cruise ship will have world's biggest water park at sea

Royal Caribbean has unveiled a first look at its brand new cruise ship Icon of the Seas - and judging by the new images and video, it looks absolutely epic.

The mega ship will boast the world's largest water park at sea with SIX waterslides, seven pools, a huge swim-up bar, a five-deck high park, the first suspended infinity pool at sea, a theatre and even an ice rink.

That's not counting all of the bars, restaurants, and entire neighbourhoods dedicated to luxury cabins and family suites.

Not to mention its gross tonnage of 250,800 will make it the world's largest passenger ship ever built, a title currently held by Wonder of the Seas.

Icon of the Seas will boast EIGHT neighbourhoods - including 'Thrill Island' where families can find the water park.

Highlights will include waterslides like Pressure Drop, with a 66-degree incline, Frightening Bolt which is the tallest drop slide at sea, and Crown's Edge, an adrenaline-inducing 'adventure' that the cruise line describes as 'part skywalk, part ropes course and part thrill ride'.

Oh, and it ends with holidaymakers swinging 154 feet above the ocean - so it's definitely not for the faint-hearted!

For those looking for something a little more relaxing, 'Chill Island' will surely appeal with four pools, including Swim & Tonic, the first swim-up bar at sea!

The zone will also be home to an adults-only retreat, as well as Royal Caribbean’s first frozen cocktail bar!

Families with little ones aged six and under will also want to check out 'Surfside', complete with splash pools, a carousel, arcade, and kids/teen clubs. There will also be plenty of family-friendly dining options, lounges and a bar for adults who want a tipple or two.

In fact, grown-ups may want to check out the Hideaway neighbourhood which will have a beach club vibe - and the world's first suspended infinity pool at sea!

Meanwhile the AquaDome will be where all guests can enjoy ocean views, tuck into delicious food at the restaurants, relax at the bars, or watch thrilling aqua shows at the next-level AquaTheater.

The cruise line's signature entertainment venue promises to take "artistry and cutting-edge technology to new heights" with a transforming pool, four robotic arms, state-of-the-art projection and more.

Icon of the Seas is currently set to sail on her maiden voyage in January 2024, with bookings opening on October 25. You can find out more on royalcaribbean.com.
