Royal Ascot 2023: Tips on all the races ahead of day two's action

After an impressive performance from jockey Ryan Moore, more will be hoped of the same from his camp on day two while Frankie Dettori searches for his first win in his last at Royal Ascot.

The day is filled with a quality cast of fillies starting in the Queen Mary Stakes with trainer Wesley Ward having a superb record in this race with four winners since 2009 and will be looking for the same with Bundchen while the Queen's Vase always gives us a taste of the future with previous winners including Estimate, Stradivarius and Kew Gardens too.

Other notable mentions include the quality in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes with Adayar, Luxembourg and Bay Bridge all in contention as well as America's Classic Causeway looking to cause a stir. The King's Reach For The Moon will feature in today's Royal Hunt Cup and Circle Of Fire in the Queens Vase as well.

2.30 Queen Mary Stakes - Relief Rally 9/2

Trainer William Haggas will be looking for a solid win to start of day two strongly to add to his nine wins in the last two weeks. The Irish filly has picked up two solid wins at Windsor in April and Salisbury in May this year running well in the last 100 yards in both races - expect a big finish from this horse.

3.05 Kensington Palace Fillies' Handicap - Crystal Caprice E/W 17/2

Crystal Caprice had two races to forget in Ayr and Nottingham this year but will be reunited with Ryan Moore on the saddle who guided the Irish horse to three career wins last season. Ten-time Champion trainer Sir Michael Stoute has five runners in today's Ascot meeting and the four-year-old filly could be a solid candidate especially with Ryan Moore as the jockey.

3.40 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes - Prosperous Voyage 3/1

An impressive finish in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes secured Frankie Dettori's last win at the Epsom Derby Festival even with a close battle with 22/1 shot Random Harvest less than a length behind. Expect a slow start from the horse but that is usually how she drives the momentum forward on a good surface so the conditions should be to her advantage.

4.20 Prince of Wales's Stakes - Luxembourg 7/4

A win in last month's Tattersalls Gold Cup at Curragh has certainly redeemed Luxembourg's plaudits under Moore as the jockey guided the four-year-old to a strong finish on a good surface and is build up as the favourite in this race.

5.00 Royal Hunt Cup - Ghaly 17/2

Godolphin's Ghaly makes his first appearance this season but despite a 235-day absence, the horse will be making its first ride with jockey Oisin Murphy. Last season, the seven-year-old secured two wins in York and at Newmarket.

5.35 Queen's Vase - Gregory 7/4

Solid performances and wins at Haydock and Goodwood indicate Gregory is enough for me to back the British horse and will be guided by the vastly experienced Frankie Dettori too.

6.10 Windsor Castle Stakes - Johannes Brahms 4/1

The joint-favourite going into this race but Aidan O'Brien has a lot to look forward to with this horse if his debut in Naas last month is anything to go by. The convincing favourite did not faze him or jockey Seamie Heffernan in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race and with Ryan Moore at the helm, we could see another solid display in day two's final race.
