Royal Ascot 2022: Confident punter puts £110,000 bet on Bay Bridge in Prince of Wales’s Stakes

A supremely confident punter has placed an eye-watering £110,000 bet on Bay Bridge in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

The four-year-old is currently a short-priced favourite for the Price of Wales’s Stakes (3.40) on Wednesday's Royal Ascot action. One punter bet £110,000 at 10/11 odds with Star Sports as they clearly feel comfortable that the impressive Brigadier Gerard winner will triumph once more.

Bay Bridge is available at 10/11 after winning by a dominant five lengths at Sandown Racecourse for Sir Michael Stoute. He will look to take on four key rivals in the upcoming race, including Sheema Classic champion Shahryar and Lord North.

Star Sports also revealed another significant bet was place, this time on Love Reigns in the Queen Mary Stakes (2.30). One punter has reportedly placed £40,000 on the Wesley Ward-trained sprinter backed at 11/4.

Love Reigns is battling for the tag of ‘favourite’ in that race with Dramatised, who impressively won by four lengths on her Newmarket debut.

“We came out level on day one and have laid two big bets today," said the firm's Ed Dark. “Love Reigns won well on her debut and we've laid her at 11-4.

“The biggest bet has been on Bay Bridge. He was impressive last time but he's taking on some proper horses.”

On Tuesday, Star Sports made a £15,000 on Persian Force, who finished second behind 3/1 Bradsell in the Coventry before placing £60,000 on the Coroebus and Baaeed double - which came through. Gambling giant Paddy Power has also reported some support for Bay Bridge on their end, granting the horse odds of 5/6 from 10/11.

“Bay Bridge was a revelation during his Classic season and he built on that to win the Brigadier Gerard in truly impressive fashion,” Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said. “Despite being odds-on, he's the one that punters want with trainer Sir Michael Stoute silencing any doubters that he may have had with his recent sensational Derby success.”

Elsewhere, Ladbrokes reported there is little to split Dramatised and Love Reigns in the Queen Mary and both runners have been backed into 5/2 odds.
