Roy Keane summed up the desolate mood among Manchester United fans after their crushing 4-0 defeat at the hands of rivals Liverpool, stating his old club are in "disarray". As a result of the loss, Ralf Rangnick's side lost more ground in the race for top four with Arsenal and Tottenham.
The hosts were on fire at Anfield in the early stages, quickly racing into the lead thanks to a goal from Luis Diaz before a sublime Sadio Mane pass put Mohamed Salah through to double the lead. Despite signs of a rally in the second half, a goal from Mane ended the contest before Salah added more gloss to the scoreline late on.
The result sees United drop below Arsenal in the table due to their goal difference dropping, with United level on points but the Gunners holding two games in hand. Antonio Conte's Spurs still sit three points above both sides, though Arsenal also have a game in hand over Spurs - with their next clash coming against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

It's just the latest poor result in a difficult season that has seen them sack club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager. A 5-0 defeat against Liverpool earlier in the season was followed up by a 2-0 home defeat against Manchester City in which United were dominated, and Keane admitted after the game that the feeling is very much different now to after those results.
"I think it was anger at the start of the season, now I just think it is sadness," Keane said on Sky Sports. "You look at the team today, there was no heart, no soul, no leaders.
"They lacked quality, they were so far off. You look at the Manchester United fans, they don’t look surprised by the scoreline. They kept going to the end but you felt as though Liverpool could score whenever they wanted when they went forward.
"There is disarray at this football club, from the top to the bottom. The fans have got no time for the owners. They want new owners, a new manager and new players.
"It’s so sad to see because it is not the club I played for. It is not what Manchester United stood for when I played for them, it is just chalk and cheese. I don’t see a Manchester United team out there fighting or playing with pride.
"I think Gary [Neville] was being generous with giving us a 1% chance of getting something from Anfield. You’d think maybe with the club, the quality that these players might have, they could get something but there was absolutely no chance. But the result was no surprise, 4-0 did not flatter Liverpool this evening."
