Roy Keane tears into Manchester United midfield as Brighton take half-time lead

Roy Keane tore into Manchester United, bemoaning their 'same problems' as Brighton took a 2-0 lead at half-time of their Premier League opener.

Erik ten Hag in his first Premier League match as United manager chose to leave Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, with speculation continuing to surround the Portuguese man's future at the club.

But after a bright start to the match from United, it was Brighton who took the lead through Pascall Gross on 30 minutes.

And the discontent around Old Trafford grew nine minutes later when David De Gea parried a shot that fell to Gross to score his second and put the Seagulls two ahead at the break.

It was a performance that left Sky Sports pundit Keane shaking his head.

Keane said: "Man United look very fragile, same problems. I questioned the personality in the the team. But the big problem for Man United is that out of possession they look so open.

"They started okay and had a great chance - [Bruno] Fernandes has got to hit the target, but after that Brighton have been excellent. Man United are so open, it's untrue.

"We shouldn't been that surprised. We talk about the changes in the team and the personality of the new manager, and of course he will need time.

"But I'll go back to the personalities in the team. The two in the middle of the park [Fred and Scott McTominay] are all over the place.

"For the goals there were gaps everywhere. Out of possession Man United are as poor as any team in the Premier League."
