Roy Keane sends warning to Manchester United winger Antony and tells him what he needs to change

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has warned Antony that he risks suffering "more injuries" if he does not adjust his style of play.

The Brazilian, who joined United from Ajax last summer for an eye-watering fee of £85.5million, has been in and out of the team this season with minor injury issues. He has not been involved in any of United's last three Premier League matches because of a leg injury but did feature in the Europa League second leg against Barcelona last week and the Carabao Cup final triumph over Newcastle United on Sunday.

Antony, who has scored six goals in United colours so far, was identified by Reds manager Erik ten Hag last summer as his first-choice candidate to bolster the club's right-wing options. He has struggled to live up to expectations so far, often delivering indifferent performances.

Despite that, he has shown that he has plenty of potential, just as he has shown he has plenty of silky skills up his sleeve. However, Keane believes that the winger needs to adapt his game and ease off being such a flamboyant player, insisting that his current style of player makes him a 'target' for opposition players.

"I think he will have to learn the hard way," Keane told ITV Sport, speaking ahead of Wednesday night's FA Cup clash with West Ham United. "Players have targeted him - we saw that at the weekend, where he is trying to make a fool of people and players have tried to go through the back of him, so he will have to learn quickly otherwise he will pick up more injuries."

Keane also touched on Ten Hag's decision to hand a rare start to captain Harry Maguire against the Hammers. The skipper, who partnered Victor Lindelof in the heart of the defence, has struggled for regular opportunities this season and speculation about his future at the club is already mounting ahead of the summer.

Keane added: "It is a big night for Harry - difficult conditions, the FA Cup, any sort of mistakes he make will be highlighted, but I hope he does well. With Harry at the moment, he is almost playing for his future."
