Roy Keane's worst Man Utd fears realised as Jadon Sancho delivers on "rubbish" prediction

Roy Keane’s worst fears about the Manchester United squad have been realised after Jadon Sancho and David de Gea delivered on a prediction by the Irishman.

The legendary Red Devils skipper had launched into one of infamous furious rants following his former side’s dreadful derby day defeat to Manchester City when he tipped members of the team to make apologies on social media.

United were left embarrassed by their fierce rivals on Sunday, with Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez both scoring twice to secure a 4-1 win for Pep Guardiola’s side.

It is a result that leaves United 22 points adrift of City, with hope also starting to fade that they can secure a place in the top four and with it, qualification for the Champions League.

Keane was left furious by the Red Devils’ tepid second-half performance, that saw them fail to have an attempt of any description on City’s goal.

And the Irishman took aim at the culture that has been created among the United squad, predicting they would attempt to apologise on social media in the aftermath of the defeat.

Apologetic statements have become a theme of United’s disappointing season and Keane made it clear that he viewed them as being “rubbish”.

“I don’t know who’s running that dressing room. Look at Maguire, he had a poor game, is he having battles with Ronaldo, captaincy and all these things?” Keane told Sky Sports.

“Egos come into it, you leave egos at the front door, these guys are all about how am I looking? Are my boots nice? Is my hair looking good? Play the game!

“You’re at Man United, we’re looking at the fans behind the goal and they know, they’re not daft, this team we’re supporting have given up.

“We’ll hear a load of rubbish over the coming days, we’ve heard it before, there’ll be statements, ‘sorry about that, we’ll try it again next week’.

“It’s what you do on the pitch that interests me, not all the other garbage.”

And now, Keane’s worst fears have been realised after both Sancho and De Gea took to Twitter to apologise to United fans.

The duo were both named in Ralf Rangnick’s starting line-up, with Sancho scoring United’s only goal in the thrashing.

But the winger and goalkeeper have moved to deliver on Keane’s prediction and pen “rubbish” apologies.

“Apologies to the fans… It’s not good enough. We have to look ourselves as players and work hard to make things right. We will keep on fighting,” Sancho wrote alongside pictures of him scoring and celebrating.

De Gea added his own note, coupled with a picture of him looking dejected lying on the Etihad Stadium pitch.

“We will, one day, get this club back to where it deserves to be. Today was another bad moment in a difficult season but when we still have this shirt to defend we will not give up,” the Spaniard said.
