Roy Keane gave his nod of approval to Casemiro for confronting Bruno Fernandes over his decision to not pass to Jadon Sancho while on a promising breakaway late on in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup final 2-0 win over Newcastle.
With the Magpies pressing for a goal in the third minute of stoppage time, United countered with Fernandes who had Sancho unmarked out wide when approaching the penalty area. He elected against passing and tried to fire past debutant goalkeeper Loris Karius, only for the shot-stopper to palm the ball over.
The phase was ultimately insignificant with the full-time whistle blowing a few minutes later but, amid the initial celebrations of the win, Casemiro reprimanded his teammate over his failure to pass.

The Brazilian quickly put it out of his mind afterwards, though, and joined in with the celebrations. Roy Keane was on punditry duty for Sky Sports and gave his verdict on the post-match interaction between the United duo as it was unfolding. “I like that,” he said. “I like that arguing, whatever they’re arguing about, it means they care.”
Meanwhile, Sancho himself even saw the lighter side of it, being captured on a selfie-stick camera later saying to Fernandes: "Next time you pass?" to which Fernandes replied: “Next time, next time.”
A short while later, Fernandes held the trophy aloft on the Wembley balcony along with club captain Harry Maguire, who came on the final embers to shore up shop. The Carabao Cup is United’s first trophy in nearly six years with the club still in every competition this season.
