Roy Keane refuses to make Arsenal U-turn on Premier League title prediction amid Man City claim

Despite praising Arsenal for their impressive performances this season, former Manchester United star Roy Keane still fails to see the Gunners lifting the Premier League title come the end of May. Mikel Arteta's side missed out on Champions League football last season but have transformed into title favourites this term as they sit eight points clear at the top of the table - albeit having played a game more than Pep Guardiola’s side.

Tough games against Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Newcastle still await the north London outfit before the end of the season, but they've shown they are capable of overcoming any obstacles between them and the title. Arteta will hope he can become the first Arsenal boss since Arsene Wenger to win the Premier League, 19 years on from the club's famous 'Invincibles' season.

Keane has criticised the Gunners in the past but admitted they have been 'brilliant' this term. Arteta is facing a number of injury concerns with William Saliba still suffering from a back injury, but this has not derailed their title charge - yet.

No one saw this season happening for Arsenal following last term's disappointing end, but new signings and consistency has turned Arteta's squad into a fierce side. Keane still believes that City will leapfrog the Gunners into first place and win their fifth title in six years.

“They’re [Arsenal] in a great position, wouldn’t have thought that at the start of the season but they’ve been brilliant, a lot of the young players have been very consistent, they can just focus on the league,” the Irishman said on The Overlap. “They’re definitely favourites for the title.

“I don’t think they’ll do it. I still have to fancy City but Arsenal have got themselves in a great position. You need a little bit of luck, injuries over the last few months, they’re in a great position and you have to admire them for that can’t begrudge them.”
