Manchester United great Roy Keane has been proven painfully accurate in his prediction over Ralf Rangnick after the German's departure from the club. Rangnick will not step into a pre-agreed consultancy role after his challenging spell in charge of the first team.
With the season in tatters by the November internationals, Rangnick was sworn in to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before moving upstairs on a two-year contract. However, after accepting a follow-up offer to coach Austria, the 63-year-old will play no part in the impending United rebuild.
His surprise mutually-agreed exit was confirmed on Sunday afternoon and comes as part of a wider shake-up with Erik ten Hag starting his work as manager. Ten Hag and Rangnick are understood to have held lengthy talks prior to Rangnick leaving, while Keane foresaw concerns.

Speaking on Sky Sports this month, Keane said: "He could do that [advising] over the next few weeks. That can be just in the short term, where he's just passing on the information when he's working with the players. This idea that he needs to stay on as a consultant, I don't see it.
"How many people do you need at your club passing down information on to the manager? He's going to bring his own staff. They've got a technical director, a chief executive, they'll have a scouting network, so surely the manager will be looking at that.... how many opinions do you need?
"He can help the manager when he first comes in with a few phone calls. An idea that he can work one or two days a month and help Manchester United, I don't see it."
