Roy Keane will not be the next Sunderland manager according to reports.
The Athletic is reporting that the Manchester United legend had been offered the job but is no longer under consideration.
Keane had confirmed t hat he interviewed for the job but a deal to bring back to the club appears to have fallen through.
According to the report, Keane was offered the job on Wednesday but Keane is no longer in the running.
The former Republic of Ireland International took over at Sunderland in 2006 and helped guide the club to promotion to the Premier League in his first season of charge.
And Keane has spoken that he would like to return as manager at some point in his career having served as assistant with Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
