Roy Keane opens Cork charity's new wellness centre as he spends time at home

Roy Keane has taken time out of his busy schedule to help open a new centre for one of the charities close to his heart.

The Corkonian returned to his homeland recently to celebrate with Cork Penny Dinners, a food bank that he has helped out with in the past.

The legendary footballer has been an ambassador for a number of charitable organisations over the years, including the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Penny Dinners was founded during famine times as a soup kitchen and is one of Cork's oldest caring organisations.

They provide a hot nourishing meal of soup, main course, dessert and tea/coffee on a daily basis. In addition sandwiches, biscuits, fruit and juice are also available to take away as an evening meal. Donations of warm clothes and bedding such as sleeping bags and duvets are also provided to people in need.

And a few weeks ago, when they opened their new wellness centre, the Sky Sports pundit was on hand to help out.

Keane's latest post on social media is definitive proof of both his kindness and sense of humour. He is seen eating popcorn, drinking Coke, and watching a film in the cinema with his grandson. But it's the caption that makes it even better.

"After arguing with him about whether to watch Scream or Sing 2. I finally won. Sing 2 was brilliant," Keane wrote.
