Roy Keane has lauded 'talented player' Christian Pulisic following his World Cup debut for the USA against Wales in Qatar on Monday night.
The 24-year-old Chelsea winger produced an excellent pass to find Timothy Weah who had made a smart run to outwit the Welsh defence before scoring with a cool finish. The goal looked to have been enough as the match entered the closing stages before Gareth Bale was fouled in the penalty area leading to a penalty which was converted by the LAFC star to earn his side a 1-1 draw.
Pulisic is one of the biggest stars in the US national team, with his status as a Champions League winner in 2021 giving him a high profile. This has contributed to speculation he may need to leave Chelsea following difficulties with gaining consistent minutes under the management of both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter in West London.

Pulisic had been linked with a move to Champions League chasing Newcastle United, with the Magpies currently sitting inside the top four of the Premier League, nine points ahead of Chelsea. With continued speculation surrounding his future, the World Cup is a perfect opportunity to showcase his talent and he earned the praise of former Manchester United captain and IT pundit Keane.
Keane said: “He’s obviously got his injury problems. He’s obviously a talented player, he’s got a good record at international level."
Keane added that Pulisic needs to show his talent more often. “So it will be interesting to see how he does in the tournament because he’s got that potential but we need to see more of it," he said. "He needs more luck with the injuries but he’s obviously a talented boy.”
With Pulisic's contract expiring in just over 18 months at Stamford Bridge, now could be the perfect time for the American to explore his options elsewhere as his stock could be raised throughout the course of the tournament.
