Graeme Souness admits Roy Keane was "boiling inside" as he sat in the Sky Sports studio after Manchester United 's 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The former Red revelled as he witnessed a demolition at Anfield with the hosts scoring six second-half goals to humiliate their arch rivals. Cody Gakpo, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez all go in on the act earlier this term.
Souness had been firm before the game that he felt Liverpool would win comfortably, despite sitting below United in the table. His comment bought about an interesting response from Gary Neville and Keane, but it was he who would have the last laugh - as the Irishman kept a lid on his emotions.
He said on Up Front with Simon Jordan : "I think Roy [Keane] was boiling inside but took it gracefully, he knew his team were miserable and Gary [Neville] chose to see it that Man United weren't that bad and Liverpool weren't that good.
"We turned up before the game, before we went on air there was a bit of banter between us... I was asked a question off-air 'what do you think the result will be?' and I said 'I don't know why I think this, but Liverpool will have a really good day and I think they will win and win well'.
"Half-an-hour later, we're on air and Gary said to me 'are you going to repeat what you said off-air?'. I said yeah, we'll win and win well so Liverpool do that. After the game, we're up in the studio there's the four of us Carra [Jamie Carragher], Gary, Roy and during the break, Gary said Liverpool weren't very good today.
"I was willing to repeat what I said on the air, are you willing to do the same and he was reluctant to do it. I have to say I enjoyed that bit of television as much as any television I worked on for the last 20 years. My team beat their biggest rivals 7-0, it was a great day for me all round."
The scoreline goes down as United's most humiliating defeat in the Premier League era, surpassing 6-1 losses at home to Manchester City and Tottenham. Liverpool have enjoyed huge dominance over United in recent years, recording a 5-0 win at Old Trafford last term.
Neville was adamant, despite some smugness from Souness and Jamie Carragher in the studio, that United's loss was "out of character". Souness challenged him on that view, resulting in some verbal jousting between the pair, who could not agree.
