Roy Keane in full agreement with Ian Wright over concerning Man Utd issue

Roy Keane echoed concerns from Ian Wright about Manchester United's limitations in attack.

The Red Devils drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Saturday, with Casemiro heading home a late equaliser after Jorginho had put the Blues ahead from the penalty spot. Former club captain Keane was on punditry duty for Sky Sports, and the Irishman couldn't help but notice the issues up front.

United were already preparing to be without Anthony Martial, with the French striker seeing his minutes limited this season after a series of injuries. And, with Cristiano Ronaldo also missing after his behaviour during the midweek victory over Tottenham, United huffed and puffed without scoring until second-half stoppage time.

"He's [Ronaldo] had to take his punishment," Keane said of his former team-mate. "The big problem for Manchester United throughout this season has been scoring enough goals.

"Leicester City at the bottom of the league have scored more goals than Manchester United, and for the attacking players United have, that's not enough. You give them credit towards the end of the game, obviously, they find a way to get an equaliser, but they need more of a goal threat going forward.

"Ronaldo has to be a good option when you're not scoring," added Keane. And his comments were similar to those made by former Arsenal and England striker Wright in the days before the game.

"Up to this point in the season I think they've only had 42 shots on target, something like that.," Wright said on The Kelly and Wrighty Show before United's game against Spurs. "It's not enough for Manchester United.

"At the same time, it's slowly coming because they are creating chances. That will come with the confidence of what you're seeing day to day in training.

"Things are starting to happen, and you can see a little bit of it on the pitch. You can see they're still trying to get there. When you're trying something but don't get the outcome as it happens you start to think I don't want to try that anymore. You're a little bit apprehensive about doing it rather than just trying it.

United were not without their chances against Chelsea. Marcus Rashford was chosen to lead the line and had one opportunity snuffed out by opposition goalkeeper Kepa, while Antony missed the target when well-placed.

"First half Rashford had two big chances, Antony one against one," visiting manager Erik ten Hag said after the game. "You have to score goals in such moments because in top games three chances is massive. You have to score.

"I think it is a fair result. I would have been disappointed if we had gone without a point because we didn't deserve that. At the end of a tough week to come here, you bring the point home."
