Roy Keane comments on Jack Grealish's summer in Las Vegas as he tells Manchester City ace to improve

Roy Keane has said that Jack Grealish needs to improve in the final third for Manchester City after he joked about the player's 'quiet summer' in Las Vegas.

Pep Guardiola's side got off to the perfect start as they began the defence of their Premier League crown with victory in east London. Two goals on debut for new signing Erling Haaland ensured that the Blues took home all three points – a clean sheet provided the cherry on top.

It was a dominant performance from the Norwegian striker as he rose head and shoulders above his fellow teammates – both literally and figuratively. The rest of Guardiola's players also put in fine performances as they reminded everyone just how good they are as they brushed David Moyes' team to one side.

The reigning champions of England had 75% possession at the London Stadium as West Ham were at times only able to watch and admire the star-studded side. Jack Grealish was one of the stars on display during City's Premier League curtain-raiser, but he failed to make a meaningful impact on the game.

Despite some promising moments, the former Aston Villa man appeared to have more to give as he tried to find a way to stamp his authority on the match. Grealish only managed to score three goals and register three assists during 26 league appearances last season, something that he will no doubt be keen to improve.

Roy Keane has given his verdict on the midfielder's lack of impact in the final third for Guardiola's side last season – saying that it's time for the player to reach his full potential at Man City.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Keane said: "Absolutely (he needs to deliver more) I think Jack made that clear in the interview, he looks like he had a quiet summer. I think he spent six weeks in Vegas so all credit to him.

"He’s got to step up to the mark, City sold one or two players and brought some in but Jack’s got that responsibility that he’s probably been used to, to be fair, even at Aston Villa, there’s always been a responsibility.

"But that has to improve, his stats have to improve, when you’re an attacker playing for a top team, that needs to improve, that’s just the aim of the game, if you’re standing sill you’re going backwards."
