Roy Keane believes Manchester United are ‘very much’ in Premier League title race with Arsenal and Man City

Roy Keane believes Manchester United are still firmly in the Premier League title race.

Erik ten Hag’s side left it late before eventually battling past Leeds on Sunday, with Marcus Rashford once again on target to give the visitors a 2-0 win at Elland Road.

With Arsenal dropping points to Brentford, United are now only five points behind the league leaders, though they have played two games more than the Gunners.

One of those games in hand for Mikel Arteta’s side comes on Wednesday night as they host Manchester City at the Emirates, a crucial match in what has widely been viewed as a two-horse race for the Premier League title.

Gary Neville has claimed United are not ready to be viewed as title contenders, suggesting that the amount of games facing Ten Hag’s side in Europe and domestically will likely catch up with them.

However, Keane disagreed with his former team-mate and urged United to be “ready to pounce” should City and Arsenal slip-up in the weeks ahead.

“Obviously, Arsenal and City are ahead of them but what they have to do, if any of the teams above them slip up, they have to be ready to pounce,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“They won today and they have to keep the pressure on City.

“Considering the way they started the season - they had a disastrous start against Brighton and Brentford - to be where they are now, I’d say they are very much in with a chance.

“But Manchester United – the players, the manager and the fans – have to look at the table and if City slip up as they have done and Arsenal continue their difficult run, they have to be ready to pounce, just in case.”
