Roy Keane and Micah Richards were left speechless after Jamie Carragher made an awkward comment about Pep Guardiola during Sky Sports' coverage of Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday.
Mo Salah's second-half strike was enough to give Liverpool the vital win and perhaps get their season back on track. But only minutes earlier, Phil Foden saw a strike ruled out for a foul by Erling Haaland in the buildup.
The incident has split opinion, with some feeling the referee eventually made the right decision while others feel Manchester City was hard done by. Keane is perhaps leaning towards the latter sentiment, and believes that the Anfield crowd played a factor in the referee's decision.
"[The referee is] at Anfield," Keane said. "He's looking at VAR and he's feeling the home crowd."
"Do you think that was a factor?" presenter Dave Jones asked, with Richards and Keane both replying "Of course!"
But then Carragher chimed in and said, "I think you'll find Pep Guardiola was the first person to talk to [the referee] when he went over," followed by a few seconds of stunned silence.
It was quite an achievement by Carragher to leave not only Keane but also Richards in a state of silence.
While the moment may have been slightly awkward, it was still a brilliant day all round for Carragher and Reds fans. Liverpool's win sees them climb into the top half of the table and also ends Manchester City's unbeaten start to the season. After their worst start to a Premier League season for a decade, things are suddenly looking a lot brighter for Jurgen Klopp's charges.
