Roy Keane aims Champions League dig at Liverpool after Jamie Carragher exchange

Roy Keane has aimed a subtle dig at Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and one of the Reds’ most memorable triumphs.

Keane was appearing alongside Carragher on Sky Sports’ The Overlap Live, along with Gary Neville and hosts Kelly Cates and Josh Denzel.

During the programme, which took place in front of a live audience, a video was shown which featured the intense debate between Carragher and Keane on Sky Sports about Manchester United.

The debate was concentrated on Man United’s decision to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, with Carragher questioning the move and Keane sticking up for his old club.

Keane argued that Man United’s main reason for signing Ronaldo was to win cups, an opinion Carragher disagreed with.

After the video was shown, both Keane and Carragher reflected on the chat where the debate continued.

Keane insisted that Man United could still win the Champions League, and took the opportunity to have a dig at Liverpool’s 2005 winning side.

“Brilliant,” said Keane, in response to the video of the original video. “But again, obviously, Jamie was wrong. It is about winning cups for United at the moment.”

Carragher then replied: “He told me that Man United had signed Ronaldo to win the FA Cup. That went f*****g well, didn’t it?.”

Man United were knocked out in the fourth round of the FA Cup last month after a penalty shootout defeat to Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

Keane continued: “They’re still in the Champions League, you never know.

“We’ve seen a lot worse teams than Man United win the Champions League.”
